Green Corps Participants

How to apply

The project development process for National Green Jobs Corps takes at least four months.

Projects must be developed collaboratively by the Partner Agency (you) and the service provider (us). The development process includes:

  • Refining goals and strategies which relate to the environment/heritage, youth and community aspects of the project;
  • Mapping out a 26 week work plan;
  • Consultation with relevant environmental or heritage planning bodies - eg. Catchment Management Agencies;
  • Consultation with local Indigenous organisations and youth organisations.

An important part of the project development process is making sure that there are enough interested 17-24 year olds in the area to ensure that we can recruit a full team of ten people.

We often find that projects can be strengthened by the inclusion of more than one Partner Agency. This enables small community organisations, who may not have sufficient resources or activities to support a full 26 week project, to combine with another organisation, like a Council. This also helps us ensure that there is enough diversity in each project to keep participants interested and build a wide range of skills.

Once a project application has been developed, it's sent to a Project Evaluation Panel which is made up of representatives from the Commonweath Department of Environment and Heritage and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. They assess and rank each proposal.

If a project is approved, we will negotiate a Memorandum of Agreement with you which reflects the commitments and plans made in the application.
